Bootcamp Classes

Intro: Welcome to App It Out

We welcome each new cohort with our Welcome to App It Out class. During this session, you will meet the other aspiring app creators and your instructors, review the bootcamp schedule, get answers to your initial questions, and ensure you are prepared for a great bootcamp.

*This class is not available for a single class option.

The Basics: Understanding the App World

The world of apps (and technology) is constantly changing. We want you to dream big but also dream realistically when it comes to your mobile app. To do so, you must know the do’s and don’ts, what to expect, and the known and unknown of how the mobile app industry operates.

Validating Your App Idea

"Ideas are cheap. The magic and expense is in the execution."

To avoid wasting your time and money, we start your app creation journey by validating your idea and laying the foundation. Is your concept realistic, especially per Apple and Android's guidelines? Who are your competitors and, therefore, your niche? You will leave this class with the confidence to move forward, even if it is with a pivot or a completely new idea.

UI/UX: Designing Your App to Provide the Best Look & Experience

How your app is designed in regards to how it looks (UI) and the experience it provides to your users (UX) is a make-or-break factor. In this class, we work with you on creating sketches and wireframes of your app design and ensuring your app is easy to navigate.

Money Talk: Different Ways to Fund Your App

“How much does it cost to build an app?” is one of the most asked questions when someone wants to launch an app. Many factors go into the answer, and we will discuss them all so you can leave this class with a proper estimate. More importantly, we discuss various options to fund your app, including bootstrapping, crowdfunding, and pitching to investors.

Building an MVP (Minimal Viable Product)

One of the biggest mistakes a new app creator makes is adding too many bells and whistles to the first version of their app release. Knowing the why and how to build your minimal viable product (MVP) properly will save time and money and satisfy your future customers better.

Led by a senior engineer, our DECODED class is a soft intro into the world of coding. The class also explores the “no code” options that are available and may be a viable option for you to build your app yourself, even with limited technical experience.

DECODED: Coding vs No-Code Options

Marketing Your App

Before and after your app launches, determining your go-to-market (GTM) strategy, understanding your target audience, and exploring marketing channels that best fit your app are all important factors to better your chances of not having a zombie app.

Choosing and Working With a Developer or Designer

There are pros and cons to hiring a freelancer or agency for developing or designing your app. This class covers red and green flags, offshoring vs. outsourcing, and the must-dos and don’ts to protect yourself from being scammed or ghosted by a third-party hire.

BOOTCAMP FAQ

  • The App It Out Bootcamp is a hands-on, interactive service option we offer to help you launch your mobile app. The Bootcamp is taught by multiple instructors who all have deep expertise in the subject matter of the class they will lead. While one-on-one Q&A sessions can be scheduled with instructors, the Bootcamp also allows you to get feedback from others in the program to better validate or improve your app idea.

On the other hand, the App It Out Course passes on knowledge in a hands-off approach and, therefore, can be completed at your own speed. The Course has only one instructor, which is App It Out's founder, Sheena Allen.

  • No, there is more to the App It Out Bootcamp than just the weekly classes. Other perks of signing up for the complete Bootcamp include the following:

    1. Weekly one-on-one Q&A sessions can be scheduled with the instructors.

    2. Klass, an affiliate service of App It Out, is included in the Bootcamp package.

    3. A discounted price on the App It Out Workbook.

  • Yes, we offer the option to sign up for single classes. However, please note that it is on a first-come basis, as we only allocate limited openings for single classes.

  • As a company, we are here to help you launch your app idea, not steal it. Also, we do not sign NDAs. We come across hundreds of app ideas every year between App It Out and simply being in the app industry. Again, we are in the business of helping to execute your idea, not steal it.

Regarding other people in the Bootcamp, they are focused on their own app idea(s). Everyone who is participating in the Bootcamp signed up for the same reason, and that is to launch their app idea.

Most importantly, remember that the magic lies in the execution, not the idea.

  • You are eligible for a full refund up until 14 days before the start of the Bootcamp. Once the refundable period has passed, if you cannot attend the Bootcamp, you will automatically be moved to the next cohort.
